Whether you are recording mobile gameplay, documenting a technical app bug, or creating a step-by-step tutorial, capturing crisp internal system sound without recording room echo or dog barking is essential.
Modern iOS and Android operating systems have built-in screen recorders capable of routing direct system audio straight into the recorded MP4 file. Here is how to configure internal audio capture on Android and iPhone.
Part 1: How to Screen Record with Internal Audio on iPhone (iOS)
iOS includes a built-in Screen Recording utility directly inside the Control Center.
Step 1: Add Screen Recording to Control Center
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Control Center.
- Under More Controls, find Screen Recording and tap the green + (plus) icon to add it to your active controls.
Step 2: Record Internal Audio Only (Mute Microphone)
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen (or swipe up from the bottom on iPhone SE/8) to open Control Center.
- Long-press (tap and hold) the circular Screen Recording icon.
- Look at the Microphone button at the bottom of the pop-up menu:
- Microphone Off (Gray): Records only system internal audio (game music, video sound, app alerts). Ambient background room noise is completely blocked.
- Microphone On (Red): Records system audio plus your external voice through the iPhone mic.
- Tap Start Recording. A 3-second countdown will begin.
- To stop, tap the red recording pill in the Dynamic Island / top status bar and tap Stop. The video saves instantly to the Photos app.

On Google Pixel and Stock Android Devices

Why Is the Screen Black When Recording Streaming Apps?
If your recorded video outputs a black screen with no audio when recording Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, or Spotify, this is triggered by DRM (Digital Rights Management) / HDCP protection. Both iOS and Android deliberately block screen capture on copyrighted streaming media to prevent piracy.
